The first China (Changsha) International Mineral and Gem Show (CMGS) successfully ended on May 20, 2013 in Hunan International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The statistics from the organizing committee suggested that most of the show’s indicators exceeded expectations and the results were also as dazzling as jewels.

The total number of booths during the first CMGS reached over 1,700, exceeding the original plan by 200 booths. There were over 1,200 exhibitors from 54 countries and 150,000 visitors. The transaction volume within the exhibition area amounted to more than 1 billion yuan, establishing its industry status as Asia’s largest professional mineral and gem show.

The first CMGS created a number of China’s No.1 including China’s first  international mineral and gem show, China’s first fossil exhibition, the first high standard international mineral and gem summit and China’s first high standard gem summit, fossil summit and museum summit.

Besides, it welcomed archaeopteryx fossil and the black opal that won the Guinness Book of Records for the first time. It also witnessed the premiere of the native gold in the shape of Chinese dragon and the original tanzanite “Heart of the Ocean” in China.

Two pieces of the world’s largest manganese rhodolites met for the first time in China. The International Gemstone Cultural and Creative Industrial Park took on the global quality resources and massive business opportunities brought together by the first CMGS.

The show gained numerous world No.1 as well. The world’s largest native gold was officially unveiled for the first time. The world’s best quality native gold from the collection of Anglo American, the world’s top mineral and gemstone exhibitor, was on exhibition for the first time. The world’s largest amethyst geode, which can accommodate up to four adults at a time, made its global debut.

In addition, the Australia Opal Pavilion made the largest international exhibition in its history. The Chinese version of “Minerals and Provenance of China”, China’s first mineral research guide which a German mineral expert Berthold Ottens had spent over 50 years in compiling, was launched for the first time in the world. It was the first collaboration and exchange ceremony held between two major international mineral and gemstone expos where the organizers of both expos exchanged representative souvenirs.

The first CMGS made Hunan’s mineral crystals “a domestic hit”, which had been famous overseas for 30 years but were not well known to the Chinese.

The first CMGS was one of the top three mineral and gem exhibitions in the world, with more visitors than that in Munich and Saint-Marie. It is a direct competitor to Tucson, the world’s largest mineral and gem exhibition, which had been held for 59 years. The first CMGS was recognized as the Tucson of the East among the community at home and abroad.
